I was happy someone suggested this place. Cool small town and this place is awesome. The food is amazing. Its a hoppong place and the people are friendly. The shop below has an amazing selection of clothingvand other water sports stuff.

What a gem this place is. World class setting and service hidden away in a little ville at the back of a quiet deeper water lake. Seating overlooks the length of the lake towards the west, perfect for a romantic evening. Especially a favorite in the many off-season months; the central open fire place is fantastic in the winter. Overall, very savory, interesting menu selections, though some of their chefs are better than others for a noticeable difference even within the same dish.

This place was excellent! The drinks were a bit pricey but they were delicious. Beautiful atmosphere, perfect for date night. Food was fresh and fast. It can be a bit tricky figuring where the restaurant is because you walk into a store and the restaurant is upstairs. Nicely decorated and it was busy which means 1. Food will be fresh2. People love coming here.It's not a big town so it being busy really means something!I will be back for sure!

Food was phenomenal! Service was good and owner was very attentive even though they were incredibly busy!! Highly recommend!!

I have been here several times and haven't been disappointed but also haven't been overly impressed. They always seem to fall short on the details. The way they plate the food has many times lead to soggy fries or chips, which is a shame. With meat they tend to do a really good job cooking if only they could manage not to char the edges. I will definitely give a nod to the weight staff, as they have always been amazing.

Right on the Marina!! All of the food was fresh and delicious. The Formmagio pizza was my favorite!

Two people at the table ordered brisket. We both got two totally different looking dishes neither of them tender and juicy as brisket should be. Had to ask for barbecue sauce, but it was delivered immediately. The vegetables were properly cooked and seasoned Overall good, but short of amazing. If I were to dine here again it would be for the ribs, but mostly for the lake views.

Really cool atmosphere on the water. The smoked wings were amazing. My wife had the potato chip crusted whitefish and was very happy. Service was awesome. Will definitely be making a return visit.

Served us black bacon. Coffee tasted like it was scraped off last weeks pot. Just head north or to Boyne city for a much better experience

Fairly regular stop when we're in the Walloon/Petoskey area. Great beer, great view, and in the summer months even better views. The outdoor bar in the summer is pretty great.

We stopped by on a Saturday in December and had a great meal. The menu was great for our family because it had all the basics (burgers and sandwiches) as well as some higher end entrees. We had the buffalo chicken dip and bruschetta and they were great. All the sandwiches (burger, whitefish, Cuban) and quesadillas were great. As a bonus - if you are a craft beer or cocktail person the selection was really good! The staff was very friendly and our server was a well trained professional, so the whole experience made for a memorable family dinner together. The only wish was that we weren’t there on a sunny July evening because they have garage doors on all the windows overlooking Walloon Lake which would have been beautiful. That drawback is on us so we plan to go back in nicer weather! If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by.

Excellent food. Excellent service. The bread basket was great. The corn bread was sweet and I like it like that. The ribs were super tender. The roasted summer veggies were nicely cooked and flavorful. Loved the coleslaw, its creamy and sweet. Everything was awesome! Can't wait to go back!

Anna was the best server! Attentive and personable. First time visit, food, atmosphere and beverages were all top notch! Great view from the Lakeview location.

Summer is amazing with great food and a view of Walloon Lake, winter is amazing with great food and a lovely fireplace in the center of the restaurant. One of my all time faves. Only thing I don't like: the chairs are not that comfortable, but worth it for the food. Try the pork pizza. Yep, you read that correctly.

Great food. Great view. Smoked chicken on my summer salad was excellent. Amazing view. Waitstaff pretty great. Crowd was a little snooty but if you do your own thing the restaurant is very nice.

This is an excellent excellent place for gluten free options. EVERYTHING has a way it can be made gluten free, even the four desserts. It’s insane. Literally I could move here over this restaurant, but that’s a much longer story. Thank you thank you thank you Fireplace is to die for on a cold day.

BARREL BACK Restaurant has something for everyone, as well as great indoor and outdoor seating with views of one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan.We started off at the bar on the dock with a drink "Barrel Back Lemonade" and then proceeded to have lunch upstairs on the outdoor patio. The drinks, food and service were outstanding.What a wonderful atmosphere, highly recommended.

Always good food, nice atmosphere...a little pricey but that's what's expected for the area. Worth the price you pay, though!

Great view of Lake Walloon from this hidden gem tucked on the Eastern Shore. Food was good, and the menu is creative.

Had wings appetizers. Mediocre at best. Pastry chef katie didn't make any desserts or they were out. Depending what wait staff you were talking to. Fireplace is nice too pricey for the quality in my opinion.

Solid place. The salmon was amazing as were the smoked wings. We had to escape the bland Boyne resort restaurants and were so happy to find this place. Right on the water with a beautiful view

We enjoyed a quick dinner at the Barrel Back Restaurant located on Walloon Lake. The restaurant offers a magnificent view of the lake from the second level dining room. The restaurant also has a Dockside bar and dining area located right on the dock adjacent the water. Walloon Lake is large and beautiful. On the main level of this building is a sports shop good cells boats clothing and related gear. If you are visiting Petoskey it is just a short drive to Walloon Lake and worth it.

Great food and atmosphere. Went during a very busy time and had to wait for table. Service was a bit slow but they were very busy. Food was cooked to our liking and enjoyed it. Wait staff was very nice.

Used to love this place but recently, the food quality has changed and the service was sub-par. Atmosphere is still great.

Our waitress was Tommie, and she was spectacular. The gluten free food is amazing, and the views. Even better. Very cool place.

This place is really nice inside. Plenty of space and indoor outdoor areas with garage doors. Perfect in the summer but nice in the winter too. Their food is awesome! pricey, but hey, its northern michigan.... the only place to get a cheap burger around here is the golden arches.🤣 great service at the bar. And a very good, central location for a restaurant.

Yet to have a bad meal or poor service yet. Excellent view of Walloon lake and the sunset is always incredible.

Good food. Good music. Wonderful staff. Had a great time. Just as much fun as last time we were there. Always a must stop when we are up north.

TRY THE FRIED PERCH DINNER!! Everything else i've had at The Barrel Back has been really good - but the PERCH last night was great! ☺️ Their Sunday morning breakfast's are great too, especially if you're looking out over Walloon Lake as the sun is rising and shining on the lake...

Nice restaurant in Walloon. Good selection of beer and drinks. BBQ is good and the rest of the menu is also very delicious. If you go in the offseason (Winter) they are offering some incentives to come back which are really worth it.

Atmosphere/view is great!! Service was very good! Prices are too high for mediocre food. Husband and I gave it a third chance last night and wont go back.

Stopped here spur of the moment on the way to Petoskey. Great find. Food was fabulous. I enjoyed sitting near the lake - docks (open air but they had screens so no bugs)

I went for breakfast. The food was delicious. The waitress was friendly. Clean restaurant. Fast service. Overall my experience could not have been better!

During quarantine I got tired of cooking, and out of ideas, but hadn’t had wings in a while and they sounded good. They were over the top good, and my 2 year old granddaughter loved the pork sliders and sweet potato fries! Worth every penny, and I am grateful that they were open and I had options. Thanks again, I will be back.

Excellent service, food was great! One of the best Ribeye steaks I have eaten. Waitress was very polite and always paying attention.

Fairly consistent food, seasonal menus, great bar, always friendly staff. A great place for locals and visitors alike. Perfectly suitable for a date or families.

Service has been hit or miss (it was s hit last night). Food is okay. So far out of my 4 dishes I've had 4 pleasant but not mind-blowing meals. The food is overpriced for what you get, but that may be a regional supply and demand thing.

Its a fun place. Great atmosphere and food. I enjoyed the wings and cuban sandwhich.
